Biologist

Conduct biological surveys and assessments of natural resources, including wildlife, plants, plant communities, and wetlands, throughout Big Cypress National Preserve. Apply knowledge of South Florida's flora and fauna to operate standard field equipment such as wildlife camera traps, GPS, and offroad vehicles. Document resource assessments and occurrences by recording data in databases and preparing summaries or reports in collaboration with NPS staff. Provide logistical support, training, and assistance to preserve staff, including operating offroad vehicles to transport people and equipment, and supporting educational outreach programs. Requires a MA/MS degree in Biological Sciences with five years of experience, a driver's license with ORV operation skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. Position involves moderate intensity outdoor work in challenging environmental conditions including heat, humidity, and wet conditions, with occasional long-distance walking and lifting up to 50 pounds.
