Job Summary

Conduct pre-, during-, and post-construction monitoring and botanical surveys within the project right-of-way to identify species of concern and sensitive resources. Coordinate with construction crews, government agencies, and third-party monitors to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local permit conditions. Develop and implement mitigation plans, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, and Spill Prevention Control Counter-measures while inspecting erosion control and reclamation activities. Perform daily field inspections, maintain accurate reports, and lead site-specific environmental review discussions to enforce project best management practices. Serve as the technical resource for field personnel regarding environmental regulations and applicable laws.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in biology, environmental science, natural resources, wildlife biology, or related discipline
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong organizational and document management skills
  • Ability to multitask and maintain effectiveness with multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and understand permits and authorizations to effectively enforce them
  • Professional attitude
  • Detail-oriented and high attention to accuracy
  • Solid mathematical skills
  • Comfortable working in a field-based position
  • Demonstrated written and verbal skills
  • Strong computer skills and a significant understanding of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, Google Earth, and others
  • Adaptable to changing work conditions. Ability to plan and prioritize workload
  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment and active construction
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs.
  • Capable of working in adverse environmental conditions such as high temperatures or other outdoor elements
  • Able to withstand long hours in the field

Desired Qualifications

  • 1-5 years professional experience in the environmental compliance and/or construction fields
  • Strong understanding of applicable environmental laws, environmental best management practices, field construction practices, employee environmental training, and working with local, state and federal land management agencies
  • Experience working with plants and wildlife in Texas
  • Experience monitoring utility construction
  • Experience working with sensitive avian species
  • Strong botanical knowledge
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • CISEC or CESSWI Stormwater Certification
  • OSHA 10 Certification
