Job Summary
Determine donor eligibility by conducting medical history interviews, physical examinations, and blood testing while managing informed consent and confidential self-exclusion. Evaluate donor reactions and adverse events per SOPs, including developing standing orders for emergencies and coordinating donor transport to emergency care facilities. Review laboratory results such as Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) and notify donors of unsuitable findings. Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs, manage employee incidents, and serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized. Requires current EMT-Paramedic certification, state license, and FDA-approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training. Located in Humble, TX, with an hourly wage of $24.32–$33.44.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
- Familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment
