Bioinformatics Scientist

Bioinformatics Scientist leading the SRA Bioinformatics team for the NIH SRA at NCBI, shaping product vision and roadmaps, guiding the full lifecycle from discovery to delivery, and driving data usability via FAIR practices. Collaborates with computational biologists and computer scientists to develop new software, tools, and workflows to enhance Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reuse of SRA data. Responsibilities include leading data analysis and user research to inform product requirements, prioritizing work in an Agile environment, and building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Requires a Doctorate-level degree and strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills; experience with scripting, SQL, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS/GCP), CI/CD pipelines, and familiarity with large-scale genomics data. The role is hybrid with on-site work in Bethesda, MD and offers compensation of $120,000–$160,000 annually along with a comprehensive benefits package.
