Job Summary
Underwrite and price new business, renewals, and endorsements within delegated authority for property and real estate risks. Evaluate submissions to determine appropriate pricing, terms, and coverage solutions while reviewing classifications, rating information, and premium calculations. Communicate quote terms and underwriting requirements with brokers and agency partners, maintaining accurate documentation within company systems. Coordinate policy issuance, process endorsements, and order inspections or loss reports to assess risk quality. Manage an established renewal portfolio, monitor opportunities, and identify profitable new business prospects while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Ensure all underwriting decisions comply with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
- 1+ years of commercial insurance underwriting experience
- Experience as a Renewal Underwriter or similar underwriting role with either another wholesale, carrier or retail brokerage
- Exposure to property and/or real estate-related risks
- Understanding of commercial insurance fundamentals, policy forms, coverage analysis, and underwriting principles
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong relationship-building skills and a customer-focused mindset
Desired Qualifications
- Active Property & Casualty license
- Experience within Binding Authority, MGA, E&S, or delegated authority environments
- Knowledge of property-focused insurance products and real estate exposures
- CPCU, CIC, or progress toward professional insurance designations
- Experience working directly with agency or broker partners
- Demonstrated interest in growing underwriting expertise and managing a larger book of business
