Job Summary
BIM/VDC Specialist within PCL’s ICT team, based in Edmonton, leading model-based workflows and standards across projects. Responsibilities include supporting project teams with BIM/VDC tools and coordination practices, aligning ICT standards and templates, refining BIM/VDC workflows, and contributing to BEPs and guidance materials. You’ll evaluate and test new tools (e.g., ACC, Navisworks, Revizto, BIM/VDC platforms), share knowledge through training and workshops, and collaborate with ICT and operations to advance digital construction practices. The role emphasizes hands-on influence on how tools, standards, and processes are applied in real-world project environments, with opportunities to contribute to ongoing evolution of PCL’s digital construction strategy. Qualifications call for a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), 4+ years in construction with BIM/VDC experience, proficiency with tools like Autodesk Forma, Navisworks, Revizto, Revit, and a collaborative, learning-focused mindset.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, diploma, or 2-year certificate in a buildings-industry related discipline (e.g., architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), civil, architectural).
- 4+ years of experience in construction, with strong exposure to BIM/VDC workflows
- Experience applying VDC on larger projects
- Intermediate understanding of construction delivery models and construction process
- Working knowledge of model-based coordination and BIM/VDC workflows
- Familiarity with BIM execution planning and digital project delivery practices
- Proficiency in common VDC tools, including Autodesk Forma, Navisworks, Revizto, Revit, Assemble, or similar platforms
- Ability to support and guide project teams in applying BIM/VDC practices
- Ability to contribute to standards, documentation, and process improvements
- Ability to explain technical concepts in a clear and practical way
- Interest in continuous learning and improving how work is delivered
- Collaborative mindset with a focus on practical solutions
