BIM/VDC Detailer - HVAC Pipe

Job Summary

Develop accurate hydronic piping models for chilled water, hot water, steam, and condenser water systems in alignment with mechanical schematics and equipment submittals. Produce constructible model-based deliverables, including shop drawings, by incorporating correct slopes, elevations, flow directions, and insulation requirements while resolving routing challenges and equipment conflicts. Collaborate with Team Leads, coordinators, and field operations to support fabrication readiness, material procurement, installation planning, and construction execution. Perform self-checks on all deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards, then escalate issues through appropriate BIM/VDC channels. Maintain organized file management practices and point files throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in BIM/VDC, mechanical drafting, or MEP modeling
  • Experience working with construction drawings, mechanical systems, or MEP layouts
  • Basic proficiency in Revit used for mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with reading plans, sections, details, schedules, and basic construction documentation
  • Ability to interpret mechanical equipment and MEP layouts
  • Basic understanding of file management, model organization, and shared project environments (ACC)
  • Competence in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Understanding of construction terminology, MEP elements, and general coordination concepts
  • Ability to follow established BIM/VDC standards, workflows, and quality control procedures
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate work consistently
  • Solid problem solving skills with the ability to recognize issues and escalate appropriately
  • Ability to communicate effectively with BIM/VDC Team Leads, Coordinators, Project Managers, and Field personnel
  • Willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and learn from senior team members
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Self motivated with the ability to manage time and meet assigned deadlines
  • Commitment to continuous learning and proficiency in BIM/VDC tools and construction processes
  • Reliable attendance and professional conduct suitable for a project driven environment
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis
  • Ability to perform tasks involving physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials, tools, or equipment
  • Must be able to receive all pertinent safety protective equipment and commit to use of same when performing in the role
  • Must be able to perform tasks in accordance with OSHA safety standards and company policies

Desired Qualifications

  • Technical certification or trade school training in drafting, BIM, or related fields
