Job Summary
Billing Specialist is responsible for processing client billing and supporting revenue cycle operations to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement for behavioral health and related services. Primarily focused on Medicaid billing with potential Medicare and private payer claims, including billing and follow-up, accurate claim submission, tracking, and resolution. Functions include EDI claim creation for various payers, self-pay processing, payment posting, claim denial investigations/remediation, Carelogic Billing/AR configuration and setup, interaction with payment/clearinghouse portals, and providing excellent customer service to ISBH staff and external customers. Requires knowledge of Ohio behavioral health payment environment, Carelogic software, Ohio MCO billing requirements, and related content. Will participate in internal/external training and special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required, a bachelor's degree, is preferred.
- Three years of experience working in Ohio behavioral health Medicaid billing.
- Three years of experience using an electronic health record system to process claims, experience with Carelogic preferred.
- Demonstrates a high degree of cultural awareness.
- Ability to effectively communicate through verbal/written expression.
- Must be able to operate in an Internet-based, automated office environment.
