Billing Specialist

Job Summary
Prepare, review, and submit accurate client invoices in accordance with contract requirements while establishing new projects and proposal numbers within the project accounting system. Process project setup changes, budget revisions, and contract modifications, then analyze financial data to support revenue recognition and work-in-process reporting. Partner with Project Managers to resolve billing questions, provide financial guidance, and distribute project reports. Maintain organized electronic documentation and assist with operational reporting initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve billing processes and accuracy. This role requires an Associate's degree in Business or Accounting, five years of project billing experience, and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP software. Located in Ann Arbor, Lansing, or Tampa, Michigan, or Tampa, Florida.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of experience in project billing, project accounting, or a related financial role
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with an ERP/accounting software
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with project managers and cross-functional teams
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with Deltek Vantagepoint or other project-based accounting software
- Experience with project financial analysis, revenue recognition, and work-in-process reporting
- Experience within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) or environmental consulting industry
