Job Summary
Billing Specialist (Dental Claims) responsible for handling a high-volume daily claims workflow for a pediatric dental practice, specializing in submitting claims and denials, with knowledge of dental/medical billing and coding, and experience using Dentrix and Dexis. Responsibilities include contacting insurers to check claim status, responding to requests and denials, tracing and resubmitting past claims, posting insurance payments to patient accounts, and posting EOBs to patient charts. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus; strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage communications with insurance companies are expected.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in billing and insurance verification (commercial and Medicaid)
- Dental software: Dentrix and Dexis
- Call insurance company to check status of submitted claims
- Respond to the letters of requests and denials received daily from the Insurance Company
- Trace past claims and resend when necessary
- Post insurance payments to the patient's accounts
- Post Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to patient's charts
- Knowledge of Dental or Medical Billing
- Understanding of Medical Insurance procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred Qualifications: Pre-employment screening including Criminal Record Check and Drug Test
