Job Summary
Review medical documentation to assess proper coding using CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 materials, then submit clean claims to all payer types for prompt return of accounts receivable. Follow up on unpaid claims to resolve billing issues, identify refund accounts, and assist patients with billing questions regarding discounts and payment arrangements. Manage claims through online tools, post payments in the practice management system, and maintain batch controls while staying current on coding guidelines for commercial, government, and worker's compensation payers. Assist front office staff with registration and scheduling inquiries. This role supports Aviva Health's medical insurance operations, requiring adherence to company policies and interaction with providers and medical staff.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year experience in medical billing utilizing ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
- Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and accurately so others will understand
- Ability to interact with patients and staff clearly
- Must be able to transport up to 5 pounds
- Ability to remain in a stationary position frequently throughout the day
- Ability to move or traverse occasionally throughout the day throughout the worksite
- Ability to operate equipment frequently throughout the day: computer, phone, printer, standard office equipment
- Work on-site indoors in heat-controlled environment frequently throughout the day
- Normal business hours
- If eligible to work remotely, ability to perform periodic travel to the office for work
- Ability to sign a remote work agreement and undergo regular home office safety inspections
Desired Qualifications
