Job Summary
Review medical records to ensure accurate diagnostic and procedure codes, answer telephones, and process and prepare charge documents. Submit claims to various third-party payers and state and federal agencies, obtain prior authorizations, and schedule referral appointments. Establish eligibility, process medical and pharmacy remittance advices, and maintain assigned insurance accounts receivables while evaluating patient financial status. This full-time, permanent position at Cougar Health Services includes overtime eligibility and a monthly salary range of $3,485 to $4,633.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of general office experience or one year of office or customer service experience in a healthcare setting; OR equivalent education/experience
- Demonstrated experience using MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, Outlook and/or Access
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills
Desired Qualifications
- Medical billing experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Medical coding
- Knowledge and use of Electronic Medical Records
- Documented on-the-job experience in a medical clinic
- Experience working with or knowledge of the RCW (chapter 70.02) and the HIPAA of 1996, pertaining to the release of protected health information
- Documented training or experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding
