Job Summary
Enter patient charges and verify insurance eligibilities into the practice management system, ensuring all billing charges match coding guidelines and procedures. Print and work daily Open Encounter, Credit Balance, and Aging reports while reconciling receipts and charges to the daily journal. Contact insurance companies to follow up on delinquent or denied claims and process claims via provider websites. Provide estimates, predeterminations, and outreach to patients, completing Medicaid threshold forms and assisting in staff training and internal audits. Act as a backup for Dental Billing or Billing Representative-payment poster roles.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- Must have the ability to maintain the knowledge of coding guidelines
- Must be willing to and demonstrate the ability to cooperate, work, and communicate with coworkers, supervisors, and visitors to our facility in an ethical, effective and professional manner
- Must demonstrate computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite and the practice management system
- Must possess the ability to display compassion and work well in stressful situations
- Must be keenly aware of the importance of confidentiality in all aspects of the position
