Job Summary
Generate and review patient invoices, payment statements, and billing documentation within the pharmacy management system. Explain billing statements, payment options, and financial responsibilities to patients while resolving claims, verifying insurance, and posting payments. Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, and prescribers to ensure timely claim resolution and monitor outstanding accounts receivable. Assist with month-end reconciliation, billing reports, and process improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance with HIPAA, Medicare regulations, and payer guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of medical, pharmacy, or healthcare billing experience
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
- Thorough understanding of medical and pharmacy billing processes
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate financial information clearly and professionally
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect patient information
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
- Strong critical thinking and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a compounding pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, or retail pharmacy billing
- Familiarity with pharmacy management software and billing platforms
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or other billing certification
