Job Summary
Follow up with insurance and patient balances by reaching out to patients regarding denied claims and collecting outstanding amounts. Research denials and rejections to correct claims for rebilling, then communicate with RCM staff, partner practices, and insurance companies to maximize reimbursement. Utilize the MY Transworld Health website to send accounts to profit recovery, update billing systems with payment statuses, and run weekly aging reports to monitor pending claims. Provide thorough explanations of benefits and denyal codes to patients while maintaining a 97% accuracy rate. Initiate reviews for credit balance refunds and process credit card payments taken over the phone. Ensure insurance payments comply with state law and USOSM protocols before moving accounts to collection agencies.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in medical/dental billing/collections or office experience
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Problem-solving skills
- Exceptional human relations skills
- Must be a team player
- Proficient in use of computers and Patient Management Software
- Adding and subtracting math skills
- Must possess knowledge of EOB's and understand co pay, coinsurance, deductibles and denial codes
- Attention to detail and can prioritize independently
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office
- Ability to understand fee schedules
- Able to audit an account from start to finish with little help
- Must maintain accuracy rate 97% or better
- Occasional lifting and bending to carry boxes and supplies, up to 25 pounds
