Job Summary
Billing Associate for Neurosurgery processes pro-fee billing activities including posting payments (co-payments, patient payments, and insurance payments) and denials, performs reconciliation of payments, deposits payments, and uses CPT/ICD-9 codes to enter charges for office, hospital, and outpatient settings. Responsible for assisting customers with billing inquiries, identifying unpaid balances via A/R reports, verifying insurance information, ensuring timely submission of claims, maintaining knowledge of federal/state reimbursement policies, and ensuring regulatory compliance; supports front end office processes as needed. Requires minimum high school diploma or GED, 1-3 years healthcare billing experience; preferred medical billing program graduate and related training, HIPAA/data security awareness.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1-3 years’ healthcare billing experience
- Preferred Graduate of a medical billing program
- Medical Records training and OASIS education
