Job Summary
Manage the firm's client billing cycle by preparing weekly, quarterly, and year-end reports; reviewing, distributing, and editing prebills; and applying firm, practice group, and client-specific billing guidelines. Prepare bills, e-bills, letters, and discount summaries prior to sending, while tracking account receivables and communicating balances to attorneys. Ensure accuracy of billing information, including client and matter rate data, and respond to client billing inquiries by researching facts and determining issue status. Open CIMS on request and email invoices to clients. Requires three to five years of client billing experience in a multi-office professional services organization, proficiency in MS Office Suite, and knowledge of Aderant or similar timekeeping programs. This role supports a talented team of lawyers, paralegals, and business professionals within a global law practice recognized for collaborative culture and practical legal solutions.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree
- Three to five years of experience in client billing in a similarly sized, multi-office professional services organization
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented, organized and strong ability to read, analyze and process complex bills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads
- Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite with proficiency in Outlook and advanced knowledge of Excel
- Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills: must possess discretion in working with confidential data, chart of accounts, strong proofreading skills, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Equivalent combination of an Associate's degree and/or work experience
- Prior patent prosecution billing
- Large law firm experience
- Experience with Aderant or similar timekeeping programs
