Job Summary
Create and maintain a nurturing, child-centered learning environment that promotes exploration, independence, and positive social interactions while ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all toddlers. Provide high-quality, age-appropriate, and culturally responsive curriculum and activities, assisting children with daily needs like meals, hygiene, and developmental assessments. Establish productive relationships with parents and guardians, encourage family participation in events, and support compliance with CA Community Care Licensing and Department of Social Services regulations. Supervise teaching assistants and volunteers when the Lead Teacher is absent.
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual proficiency in a second language desired, especially Spanish, Cantonese, Arabic, and Vietnamese
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units, including 3 Infant/Toddler units
- Minimum six (6) months of experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare or early childhood education setting
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in grammar, spelling, and writing
- Successful completion of Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and tuberculosis screening
- Current California Associate Teacher Permit or higher, maintained in good standing
- Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Proof of required immunizations, including pertussis (Tdap), influenza, and measles, in accordance with state regulations
- Vision and Hearing corrected in a normal range
- Good general health, physical stamina, and emotional stability
- Ability to reach by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
- Finger dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers
- Ability to safely interact with traffic as a pedestrian
- Ability to sit/stand for minimum periods of one hour and come and go from the work area repeatedly throughout the day
- Ability to bend and kneeling, twisting, and lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds
- Ability to move quickly to address emergencies or potentially dangerous situations
- Must pass Tuberculosis and Dept. of Justice Fingerprint screening
- Must show proof of pertussis, influenza, and measles immunizations
