Job Summary
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and Texas Education Agency guidelines, adapting instruction to meet individual student needs. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing to guide instructional activities. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct while creating a classroom environment conducive to intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per Individual Education Plans and oversee instructional aides. Establish open communication with parents, colleagues, and community members, and assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities. Participate in faculty meetings, staff committees, and professional development to improve job-related skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
- Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate
