Job Summary
Assist teachers in a bilingual Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion program by supporting multilingual learners with disabilities. Lead small groups and one-on-one instruction using bilingual skills; help meet IEP/504 goals; facilitate language accommodations on assignments and tests; promote inclusive, culturally/linguistically responsive supervision; coordinate with staff and families to ensure language access; document, plan, and prepare materials for substitutes; provide basic first aid and health-related procedures as trained; follow district policies and maintain compliance with DPI and NCLB standards. The role requires strong bilingual communication, collaboration with educators, and ability to work with students requiring varying levels of support.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate with technical training in special education
- DPI certification provided by employee
- Bilingual English and Spanish language skills (demonstrated through a language proficiency test as a part of the hiring process)
- CPR, non-violent crisis intervention, and first aid certification
- Must meet NCLB standards: (1) Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education, (2) obtained an associate's degree (or higher) or (3) demonstrate ability to assist in reading, writing and mathematics
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to sit/stand for extended periods; ability to lift up to 50-80 pounds with assistance
- Ability to work with students with disabilities and maintain safety
