Job Summary
Bilingual Parent Engagement Assistant provides translation and interpretation support for teacher/parent conferences and PTA/PTO meetings, translates newsletters and communications for Spanish-speaking families, coordinates parent involvement activities at school and district levels, conducts workshops for English Language Learning parents, and aids in transitioning ELL children to Kindergarten. Serves as ESL Program liaison on District Parent Advisory Committees; collaborates with teachers, administrators, and families to support LEP and migrant populations. Requires bilingual English/Spanish proficiency, strong communications, a high school diploma or GED, and a NC driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) literacy and oral proficiency
- High school diploma or GED
- Must possess a NC driver’s license
- Willingness to translate for teacher/parent conferences
- Translate newsletters, school notes, and other written communications for Spanish-speaking community
- Experience or ability to conduct workshops and training for parents of English Language Learning students
- Ability to help English Language Learning children and families transition to Kindergarten
- Serve as liaison from ESL Program on District Parent Advisory Committees
- Strong communications skills
