Job Summary
Bilingual Paraprofessional responsibilities include providing instructional and other support services to students under teacher supervision, with emphasis on language minority students. Responsibilities cover supporting English language development, offering extra practice and explanations in English or native language, assisting students individually or in small groups with lesson activities and assessments, helping prepare materials, communicating with teachers and families (including translations), maintaining confidentiality, facilitating test accommodations/modifications, supporting routines such as bus/ recess supervision, and assisting with feeding, toileting, adaptive equipment, and emergency drills. CPI certification is encouraged and will be provided by the district. Skills and requirements include a valid ISBE Paraprofessional License or Short Term Approval, ability to follow instructions, confidentiality, basic technology skills, and proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking in the native language. The role requires physical activities (sitting, standing, lifting, walking, monitoring) and a demonstrated desire to work with students.

- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Maintain confidentiality of students and their needs
- Basic knowledge and willingness to learn appropriate use of technology
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
- Must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing and speaking in native language.
