Bilingual On-Site Account Specialist

Job Summary

Serve as the primary liaison between policyholders and The Standard, supporting employers and employees with group life, disability, and leave-related inquiries. Independently manage claim processes, coordinate death claims, and assist employees with filing claims while ensuring accurate premium administration and contract interpretation. Partner closely with HR, Benefits, and Payroll teams to resolve customer service, claims, and coverage issues, including escalations. Provide reporting on claim activity, support Evidence of Insurability tracking, and contribute to process improvements that enhance the customer experience and support business retention. This role requires onsite presence in Miami, FL, five days per week.

Required Qualifications

  • The ability to work onsite in Miami, FL, 5 days per week
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience in FMLA, Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and life insurance (employer, broker, or carrier)
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Experience managing claims processes and resolving complex customer inquiries
  • Strong knowledge of benefit contract interpretation and premium administration
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and business units
  • Strong verbal communication skills with a focus on empathy and customer service
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience coordinating projects and cross-functional work
  • Experience supporting group life, disability, and leave programs in a corporate or insurance environment

  • Adaptability: Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and business needs while maintaining performance
  • Sound Judgment: Analyzes complex situations and makes informed, independent decisions
