Job Summary
Bilingual On-Call Advocate provides crisis intervention after office hours, advocating for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault through medical, legal, social services, and court systems. Responsibilities include carrying a crisis cell on a rotating schedule, participating in 30 hours of training on related protocols, offering supportive counseling, interpreting for emergency services staff, facilitating victim advocacy with law enforcement and at DV court hearings, providing emergency advocacy at hospitals, arranging safe housing/relocation, and meeting physical requirements as needed. Desirable qualifications include proficiency in Spanish and English, awareness of resources, and willingness to travel. Reports to the Battered Women's Intervention Coordinator/Director in Moorhead, MN/Crookston, MN.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred
- Some college or technical training helpful
- Ability to communicate and write legibly in Spanish and English
- Willingness to travel and access to transportation required
- Knowledge of community and area resources
- Knowledge of issues facing victims of sexual and domestic violence
