Job Summary
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services reports to Center Manager and provides donor eligibility determination, management of donor adverse events, review of laboratory test results, and donor notification of unsuitable results. Works under Center Manager/Assistant Manager for operational guidance and Center Physician for medical issues; ensures compliance with regulatory guidance, supports environmental, health and safety programs, and participates in vaccination programs for employees. Responsibilities include informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE; evaluate donor reactions and refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical/technical issues; supports vaccination programs and incident management; may serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS; requires high school diploma or equivalent and nursing program, LPN/LVN licensure, CPR/AED, IV therapy qualifications, FDA training, and two years of clinical experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate nursing program
- Current LPN or LVN license/certification in the state of responsibilities
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Meet state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
