Job Summary

Coordinate and implement medical services for UAC under the Program Director's direction, including hiring, training, and supervising medical staff. Perform triage assessments to evaluate patient symptoms, determine urgency levels, and coordinate appropriate medical responses or referrals. Provide supervision and guidance to the medical team while monitoring daily practices to ensure compliance with agency policies, TDFPS Minimum Standards, and ORR Policy. Compile, prepare, and maintain accurate records, files, forms, and statistics in accordance with required standards. Actively participate in case staffings and stakeholder meetings, follow up on recommendations, and communicate with the ORR Medical team as needed. Ensure medical services are completed and documented in the UAC Portal within required timeframes. Assume on-call duties after regular business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Provide health education and training for staff and UAC, maintain inventories of medical supplies and medications, and develop fail-safe plans regarding medication administration. Scheduling, accompanying, and/or providing transportation to medical appointments when needed. Protect the confidentiality of client information and adhere to safety training and protocols on a daily basis.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Medical Services or related field
  • Higher health-related qualification (e.g. Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner)
  • Minimum of 1 year of employment in public health or a healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care
  • One-year experience working with children in a child welfare or social-services setting
  • Supervisory experience
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Reliable Transportation
  • Valid driver license
  • Valid vehicle insurance
  • Proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route if working directly with unaccompanied children
  • Two doses of varicella vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR born in the United States before 1980 with a reported history of chickenpox (verified by an adult present at the time of illness) OR titers indicating varicella immunity OR documentation from healthcare provider verifying previous infection
  • Two doses of MMR vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR titers indicating immunity to all three diseases
  • Complete primary vaccination series. If primary vaccination series completed in childhood, one DTaP dose in adulthood
  • One dose annually during flu season
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Word, Excel) and a variety of online database systems, managing files and records, designing forms and other office procedures and terminology
  • Strong analytical and organization skills and abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret policy, procedures and standards
  • Detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in crisis situations
  • Bilingual: Fluent in English/Spanish with regards to reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension of the spoken language
  • Attendance and successful completion of a 10- day New Employee Orientation

Desired Qualifications

  • One-year experience working with children in a child welfare or social-services setting preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
