Job Summary
Assist with the intake and orientation of unaccompanied children, ensuring all documentation is accurately completed and filed. Conduct initial health and safety checks, inventory belongings, and provide facility orientation while following strict confidentiality and child protection standards. Escort youth to and from airports, medical appointments, and court hearings, maintaining safe supervision ratios and ensuring vehicles meet agency requirements. Coordinate with case managers and supervisors to ensure smooth transfer processes and submit all travel documentation promptly. This role requires Bilingual Spanish proficiency, a valid driver's license with a good record, and availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must obtain criminal and child abuse clearances, pass drug screens and TB tests, and maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bilingual Spanish
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with youth or in a social services, childcare, or transportation role
- Ability to obtain Criminal and Child Abuse Clearance from the State of California/Department of Justice
- Availability to work nights, weekends and some holidays as needed
- Understanding of the importance of compliance with HIPAA privacy practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong conflict resolution, communication and organizational skills; with great attention to detail
- Ability to adhere to attendance and punctuality policy
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Ability to effectively utilize computers and basic computer software
- Valid Driver's License
- Good driving record
- At least 18 years old
- At least 2 years of driving experience
- Possession and maintenance of authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and child-centered services to unaccompanied children
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
- Documentation of all required immunizations
- Authorization for A Greater Hope to obtain and verify immunization records through the California Immunization Registry (CAIR)
- Completion and maintenance of all required health screenings, physical examinations, tuberculosis (TB) clearance, immunizations, vaccinations, and other medical requirements
- Maintenance of all required licenses, certifications, registrations, and credentials
- Compliance with all applicable ORR policies, federal regulations, state laws, licensing requirements, accreditation standards, confidentiality requirements, and A Greater Hope policies and procedures
- Emotional stability and ability to function effectively with children, adolescents and adults who may have mental or behavioral health problems
- Ability to remain in a seated position while working in the office
- Ability to lift or carry items 10-50 lbs.
- Ability to manage personal accidents/bathroom support, feeding and cleaning up infants and children
- Ability to work outside for periods of time in all seasons of weather
- Ability to drive a motor vehicle
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Ability to talk or hear
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, move quickly, run, use hands, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and taste or smell
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Human Services, Social Work, or related field
- Experience in a Foster Family Agency
