Job Summary
Paraprofessional works with classroom teachers to plan, coordinate, and carry out instruction for English Language Learners. Responsibilities include assisting the teacher with organizational needs, helping students with lessons, tutoring, planning and developing teaching aids, maintaining a positive classroom environment, providing short-term classroom coverage, collaborating with staff and parents, and supervising students in halls/recess. Requires sixty college hours and Missouri substitute teacher certification; bilingual Spanish language skills are required. Long-term duties include supporting elementary students and contributing to the learning team within KCPS.
Required Qualifications
- Sixty (60) college hours
- 2.5 minimum g.p.a.
- Missouri state substitute teacher certification
- Possess skills in working with children and their parents
- Desire to work with elementary grade children
- Excellent dual language speaking/writing skills - Spanish
