Job Summary
Administer first aid, provide one-on-one or group instruction, and assist classroom teachers with management and lesson preparation. Supervise students during arrival, departure, transit, recess, and meals while monitoring hallways and unloading wheelchair-bound students. Translate verbal and written information to support students, staff, and families, and assist with special needs including diapering, tube feeding, and toileting. Administer assessments, maintain accurate student records, and report misconduct on school property or bus routes. Adhere to district safety policies, attend annual training, and distribute materials to staff, students, and parents.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bilingual and/or Biliterate (Spanish)
- Associates degree (AAS, AA) or higher
- Earned 72 college quarter credits or 48 semester credits in college level 100 or higher courses
- Passing score on the Educational Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment
- Valid First aid and/or CPR card for infants and children
- Passing score on district administered bilingual test
Desired Qualifications
- Prior paraeducator experience
- College experience
- On-the job experience
- Experience working with students who are special needs
- Prior experience in a K-12 school setting
- CPI trained
- Willingness to attend CPI training
