Job Summary
Use trauma-informed strategies to build safe, supportive relationships and respond to student needs with empathy and emotional regulation support. Accurately collect and document data related to academic progress, behavior, and IEP goals while ensuring timely communication with the supervising teacher. Follow established behavior intervention plans and apply CPI-approved strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviors. Assist in delivering teacher-directed instruction and reinforcement in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional areas in both individual and small group formats. Provide one-on-one instruction or group instruction, administer tests and quizzes, and assist with needs related to diapering, tube feeding, toileting, and lifting. Translate verbal and/or written information to assist students, district personnel, parents, and guardians.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bilingual and/or Biliterate (Spanish)
- Must meet one or more of the following: Associates degree (AAS, AA) or higher
- Earned 72 college quarter credits or 48 semester credits in college level 100 or higher courses
- Passing score on the Educational Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment
- Passing score on district administered bilingual test
- Valid First aid and/or CPR card for infants and children or willing to obtain
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) trained or willing to attend training
Desired Qualifications
- Prior paraeducator experience, college, or on-the job experience
- Experience working with students who are special needs
- Prior experience in a K-12 school setting
