Job Summary
Bilingual Instructional Assistant - General assists the classroom teacher and licensed staff with instruction, supervision, and support for students, including focused academic, social-emotional, and behavioral assistance, as well as light clerical duties. Responsibilities include monitoring students during transitions, delivering small-group instructional support, implementing behavioral supports (e.g., redirecting and positive reinforcement), aiding students in developing lagging social-emotional and academic skills, providing personal care or assistance as needed to access education, and collaborating with staff to tailor support to individual student needs. Requires strong oral and written communication, ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds, and the ability to operate basic office equipment; bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is required.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; 72 quarter hours of accredited college or equivalent education or passing score on District HQ Assessment
- Prior job related experience with school age children or equivalent education/experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with diverse cultures; bilingual English/Spanish required
- Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods; manage student behavior; assist with instruction and clerical tasks
