Job Summary
The Bilingual Housing Specialist - Spanish manages a caseload of Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) participants, conducting annual and interim recertifications, processing participant moves, determining housing assistance payments, and maintaining accurate participant files. This role requires fluency in both English and Spanish for translation purposes and includes providing excellent customer service to participants, landlords, and other stakeholders. Candidates must obtain certification in Housing Choice Voucher Specialist within 120 days of employment.
Required Qualifications
- Must speak, read and write both English and Spanish fluently
- Ability to interpret and apply regulations pertaining to the program
- Effective communication skills both orally and in writing
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong computer and organizational skills
Desired Qualifications
- Education equivalent to a four-year degree from a regionally accredited institution in Public Administration, Social Science or a closely related field
- Minimum of two years of progressively responsible work experience for a public agency, or related work in the social service or community service field
- Alternatively, a two-year degree with four years of experience
