Bilingual Housing Problem Solving Specialist

Job Summary

Assess families experiencing a housing crisis, map their personal networks and resources, and explain how San Francisco's homeless response system works to help them access shelter, rental subsidies, or permanent supportive housing. Provide trauma-informed problem-solving support including motivational interviewing, conflict resolution, and mediation to maintain current housing or secure safe placement. Offer referrals for emergency overnight shelters, food, and basic needs while maintaining up-to-date records in Compass' Salesforce database and the city-wide ONE System. Facilitate connections to housing opportunities and de-escalate potentially volatile situations. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Fluency or a high level of professional proficiency in English and Spanish
  • Relevant experience in social work or a related field
  • Experience working with families in crisis
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to assess and de-escalate potentially volatile situations
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
