Job Summary
Answer 24-hour hotline, Live Chat, and text lines to provide crisis intervention, assessments, and referrals for survivors of domestic/sexual violence and homelessness. Manage the HCDV shelter bed database, collect monthly service data, and ensure TBOTW accounts are updated with accurate bed availability. Complete reports in compliance with grant and agency requirements. Assist with staff and volunteer training on crisis competencies, maintain community resource manuals, and act as an on-call advocate for maximum 2-3 shifts per month at local hospitals. Provide limited casework to shelter residents, conduct initial assessments, and assist with transportation and daily shelter operations. Requires bilingual Spanish/English, criminal background check, and current Texas driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual Spanish/English
- Must rotate on-call responsibility a minimum of approximately 2-3 24-hour shifts per month to provide accompaniments to victims of FV/SA at local hospitals, police departments, schools, etc.
- Knowledge of the dynamics of sexual and domestic violence, laws related to sexual and domestic violence and an overview of legal system
- Ability to establish rapport and work with at-risk populations
- Excellent communication skills required (both verbal and written); and ability to work independently
- Must pass criminal background investigation check
- Must provide and maintain current TX Driver's License
- Must provide and maintain clean driving record and annually update driving record
- Must provide and maintain current auto liability insurance
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S
- Must be able to lift/carry (40) lbs, and ascend/descend stairs in emergency shelter setting
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's/Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in social sciences field. In lieu of educational requirement, High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of one year's experience in social services or customer service arena.
