Job Summary
Provide bilingual HIV/STD counseling, referrals, and case management for walk-in, phone, and outreach clients in English and Spanish. Conduct in-person HIV/STI screenings and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis navigation, including intakes, assessments, and care linkage. Translate scientific concepts into clear information and develop patient education materials. Track client data in secure databases and stay current on research through daily study and training. Work onsite or at outreach locations, including geosocial app outreach, with flexible availability for days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of HIV/AIDS and STDs
- Experience working with the LGBTQ population in a sex positive environment
- Experience working with individuals impacted by HIV/AIDS and STIs
- Prior experience working in a nonprofit environment
- Associate's degree in social work or related field
- Equivalent years of work/volunteer experience
- Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer sensitivity
- Knowledge and experience addressing LGBTQ needs
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- A high degree of integrity in dealing with confidential information
- Ability to follow and adhere to all HIPAA standards
- Ability to use MS Office programs, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Effective problem solving and ability to analyze and use data for decision-making
- Ability to work flexible hours including days (9am-5pm), nights (1pm-9pm shifts), weekends
- Data entry experience
- Must be bilingual, specifically Spanish speaking (oral and written)
- Ability to obtain testing certification post hire
- On-time arrival at Center on Halsted or in outreach settings as scheduled
- Availability for weekday and weekend shifts between the hours of 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
- Travel to outreach locations throughout the Chicagoland area
- Ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget
- Ability to solve problems, work independently, manage programs
- Ability to be creatively resourceful
- Results – proven track record of exceeding goals
