Job Summary
Foster Parent Engagement Specialist recruits, engages, and supports prospective foster, kinship, transfer, and foster/adopt families from inquiry through home study completion and licensure. Serves as primary liaison for English- and Spanish-speaking families, with emphasis on bilingual outreach and culturally responsive communication to support licensing processes. Conducts intake conversations, screenings, and initial home visits to assess readiness, educates families on licensing standards and documentation, and coordinates with licensing, home development, kinship, and other teams to guide families through milestones. Engages in outreach, informational meetings, and community presentations to promote foster care, kinship care, and family engagement, maintaining confidential records and delivering trauma-informed, family-centered customer service. Requires ability to work flexible hours, occasional evenings/weekends, and travel as needed; environment includes home-based office and community settings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Family Studies, Communications or related field)
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in child welfare, foster care, kinship services, family engagement, social services, or related field
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Experience with culturally diverse populations and bilingual communities
