Job Summary

Bilingual Field Trip Facilitator to support the Field Museum’s School Programs for Pre-K-12th grade Illinois student groups. Responsibilities include greeting and welcoming school groups in English and Spanish, providing learning experiences at the museum, supporting school partnership programs and off-site events, translating existing and future programming materials into Spanish, and ensuring safety and smooth operations during field trips. The role involves facilitating gallery experiences, student classes, and programmatic activities in both English and Spanish, maintaining program supplies, preparing materials for field trips, translating materials as needed, and collaborating with School Programs, Public Programs, Education Program Assistants, and Visitor Services. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, Spanish fluency, translation ability, and demonstrated experience in field trip or event planning. Work hours are 8 am-4 pm for the camp program in summer and generally 35 hours with not eligible hybrid eligibility; located at 1400 S. DuSable Lake Shore Dr., Chicago, IL 60605.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, science, history, social science, or Spanish
  • Spanish language fluency and comfort communicating with Spanish-speakers of many dialects and regional linguistic variations
  • Ability to translate materials into Spanish from English and to review preexisting or autogenerated translations
  • Ability to work with general public, Pre-K-12 students, and Field Museum members, partners, and supporters
  • Demonstrated ability in field trip or event planning
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, move around exhibit spaces with large groups of children
  • Ability to communicate directions clearly in crowded settings
  • Ability to use museum radios for essential communication with field trip team
  • Ability to push and maneuver lunch and coat carts in and out of storage areas
  • Experience working with or in education-based non-profit organizations (preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, professional demeanor
