Job Summary
Bilingual Family Support Worker responsible for providing transportation for clients to visits and appointments, coordinating with social workers and families on schedules and locations, documenting interactions in FACES within 48 hours, building positive relationships with foster parents and birth families, de-escalating conflicts, arriving on time with clients to appointments, engaging respectfully across cultures/languages, and performing other duties to support Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area. Requires Bachelor's Degree in human services, 2+ years with children and families, strong communication, confidentiality, travel up to 100% with children in care, reliable transportation and a valid driver's license, and willingness to travel. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to work independently are preferred. Bilingual in Spanish and English is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in human services
- At least two (2) years of prior experience working with children and families
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bi-lingual (Spanish and English)
- Active motor vehicle license
- Willing to travel 90-100% with children in own care
- Reliable transportation
- Maintain a reliable automobile with adequate insurance coverage
- Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries
