Job Summary
The Lake Michigan Credit Union is seeking a Bilingual (English/Spanish) Personal Banking Advisor in Tampa, FL. The role focuses on serving members as a financial consultant, providing expert guidance, and cross-selling banking products while handling new accounts, loans, and a variety of financial services. Responsibilities include establishing trust with members, offering Spanish-language support and interpretation for meetings and transactions, educating members on relevant products, solving problems, maintaining compliance and security standards, and helping the branch meet sales and service goals. Key skills include strong communication, Spanish-English interpretation, cross-selling experience, knowledge of consumer and business banking products, attention to detail, and the ability to build long-term member relationships. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 3–5 years of related experience, and licensing/notary/registration steps as applicable, with a focus on delivering exceptional member service and achieving branch objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Three years to five years of similar or related experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to become registered through NMLS and achieve notary certification through the county
- Proficiency in spoken English and Spanish
- Proficiency in English and Spanish for member-facing support
- On-call interpreter for Spanish member-facing support
- Telephone-based language proficiency assessment during application process
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of LMCU products and services (consumer and business accounts and loans)
- Ability to meet sales targets and contribute to branch goals
- Compliance with policies and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- Adaptability and flexible approach to changing needs
- Cross-selling of products such as loans, credit cards, second mortgages
- Employer requires licensure for Michigan-based employees
