Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents on the Milton Hershey School campus in Hershey, PA provide daily supervision, mentorship, and supervision of a group of ~8–13 students within on-campus homes. Responsibilities include managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning and participating in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, budgeting and household reporting, and supporting a nine-day on / three-day off work cycle with eventual transition to a Placed Houseparent role living with the same student group.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- HS diploma or GED
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Ability to become placed as a Houseparent after initial period
- Background checks and safety clearances likely required
- Paid relocation and training provided
