Job Summary
Create a developmentally appropriate program and weekly lesson plans to meet the cognitive and emotional needs of enrolled children. Assess individual development and adjust activities accordingly while ensuring the safety of all students in the classroom. Guide Assistant Educators in resolving student issues and actively participate in recruitment efforts to meet program goals. Document attendance and progress strictly according to program requirements. Perform all duties consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program's mission and values, including occasional on-call coverage. Maintain a positive educational environment that supports parental involvement services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or Elementary Education
- Willingness to obtain TESL certification paid by NYAP
- 2+ years' experience in teaching capacity and lesson planning
- Passionate about the development and well-being of children
- Able to pass a criminal background check
- 21 years of age
- Valid state driver's license
- Reliable personal vehicle
- Good driving record
- Bilingual (English Spanish)
- Fluency in Spanish
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, internet search, people management programs, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of an extended, cross functional team
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity
- Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying
- Ability to travel frequently and drive vehicle while sitting for extended periods, with frequency varying based on program demands
