Job Summary
Prepare treatment rooms, disinfect equipment, and restock supplies while assisting patients from the waiting room to examinations. Administer medications, injections, and vaccinations under physician direction, and collect, process, and prepare blood and urine specimens. Measure vital signs, remove sutures, change dressings, and catheterize patients as needed. Interview patients, record information in Athena EMR, and call regarding lab results and prescription refills within 24 hours. Requires Bilingual Certified Medical Assistant status, BLS certification, six months phlebotomy experience, and one year of EMR software proficiency. Located in Sugarland, TX, with some travel to the Memorial Southwest Location.
Required Qualifications
- Medical assistant certification from a program accredited by the American Association of Medical Assistants or the American Medical Technologists
- Knowledge of principles of safe and accurate medication administration
- Ability to accurately document patient information in accordance with organizational policies, HIPAA regulations, and procedures
- Ability to make observations of the general physical condition of the patient and notifies the physician of abnormalities
- Ability to give injections and draw blood
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent bedside manner and ability to make patients feel at ease
- Appears friendly, reassuring, and approachable to patients
- Computer proficiency and familiarity with electronic medical records
- Athena EMR
- High attention to detail, ability to multitask and prioritize tasks and work in a busy, fast-paced environment
- Education – H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
- Experience – Minimum 2 Years
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Must be Certified Medical Assistant
- 6 months phlebotomy experience
- Minimum 1 year of EMR software experience
- Bilingual in Spanish
