Job Summary
Assist teaching staff by developing lesson plans based on state requirements and monitoring the academic progress of each child. Collaborate with educators to deliver daily lesson plans and understand classroom operations during teacher absences. Work directly with individual children in the classroom to promote their learning and development while providing feedback on progress to the Lead Educator. Perform duties consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program's mission, values, and philosophies. Requires bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, an associate degree in education or early childhood education, and 2+ years of experience working with minority children. Valid state driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in education and/or early childhood education
- 2+ years' experience as a Teacher Assistant or Paraprofessional, working with minority children in a classroom environment
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
- Bilingual (English Spanish)
- Fluency in Spanish
- 21 years of age
- Valid state driver's license
- Reliable personal vehicle
- Good driving record
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity
- Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying
- Ability to travel frequently and drive vehicle while sitting for extended periods, with frequency varying based on program demands
Desired Qualifications
- Valid ECE certification preferred
