Job Summary
Present the MTB/BMX program and ensure riders have a safe and enjoyable experience by guiding and sweeping biking groups on trails and observing biking on BMX tracks. Repairs and maintains the mountain bike and/or BMX inventory, properly inspecting, using, and maintaining all bikes, equipment, and supplies. Assist in the set up and takedown of BMX/MTB trails, tracks, and other facilities while maintaining a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area. Demonstrate proper riding technique and instruction to guests, model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions, and turn paperwork into a supervisor timeline. Work 45-55 hours daily standing, walking, and biking up to 8 hours with the ability to lift 50 pounds, adhering to SBR staff handbook policies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age: 18+
- Proficiency riding a mountain bike
- Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication
- Ability to stand, walk, and bike up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
Desired Qualifications
- Experience maintaining, riding mountain bikes or teaching MTB
- High emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)
- Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focus
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skills
- Ability to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgrounds
