Job Summary
Provide trauma-informed, culturally sensitive individual and group mental health services to Somali-speaking outpatients in a dyad with staff psychiatrists. Manage clinical cases and coordinate support services for patients within the Intercultural Psychiatric Program, adhering to Oregon Administrative Rules 309. Deliver assessments, interventions, and case management while maintaining accurate electronic documentation and reports. Communicate effectively in both English and Somali to facilitate care for diverse populations.
Required Qualifications
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Fluency in written and spoken Somali
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
- Demonstrated ability to understand mental health assessment, treatment and service terminology
- Demonstrated ability to apply concepts of mental health assessment, treatment and service terminology
- Demonstrated ability to implement skills development strategies
- Demonstrated ability to identify, implement and coordinate services and supports identified in an ISSP
- Basic skills in word processing
- Ability to complete reports and other documentation in electronic format
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of and comfort with culture of people from other cultures
- Ability to function cooperatively in a multicultural environment
- Strong patient-service orientation
- Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively in a diverse psychiatric outpatient program
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Registration as a QMHA with the Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO)
- Hold QMHA Basic Certification (QMHA-I)
- Meet OAR 309-019-0125 standards for initial qualification for employment in State Approved Mental Health Agencies
- Register prior to employment and become fully certified within 2 years
Desired Qualifications
- Two to three years of employment or mental health field as a Bicultural Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA)
- Experience working with immigrants and refugees in a clinical setting
- Experience delivering culturally appropriate interventions
- Knowledge of trauma-informed treatments
