Bicultural Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) / Mental Health Specialist - Somali-Speaking Clinician

Job Summary
Provide trauma-informed, culturally sensitive individual and group mental health services to Somali-speaking outpatients in a dyad with staff psychiatrists. Manage clinical cases and coordinate care supports for patients under the Intercultural Psychiatric Program's integrated team model. Deliver culturally appropriate interventions and apply trauma-informed treatments while adhering to Oregon Administrative Rules 309. Maintain electronic documentation and reports using word processing skills. Requires fluency in English and Somali, QMHA certification, and experience with immigrants and refugees. Required Qualifications
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Fluency in written and spoken Somali
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
- Demonstrated ability to understand mental health assessment, treatment and service terminology
- Demonstrated ability to apply concepts of mental health assessment, treatment and service terminology
- Demonstrated ability to implement skills development strategies
- Demonstrated ability to identify services and supports identified in an ISSP
- Demonstrated ability to implement services and supports identified in an ISSP
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate services and supports identified in an ISSP
- Basic skills in word processing
- Ability to complete reports and other documentation in electronic format
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of and comfort with culture of people from other cultures
- Ability to function cooperatively in a multicultural environment
- Strong patient-service orientation
- Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively in a diverse psychiatric outpatient program
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Registration as a QMHA with the Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO)
- Hold QMHA Basic Certification (QMHA-I)
- Meet OAR 309-019-0125 standards for initial qualification for employment in State Approved Mental Health Agencies
- Register prior to employment and become fully certified within 2 years
Desired Qualifications
- Two to three years of employment or mental health field as a Bicultural Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA)
- Experience working with immigrants and refugees in a clinical setting
- Experience delivering culturally appropriate interventions
- Knowledge of trauma-informed treatments
