BI QA Lead

Job Summary
Lead BI QA efforts across data validation, ETL testing, and BI tooling; design testing strategies, test plans, and test cases for complex data ecosystems. Validate end-to-end data accuracy from source systems to target data warehouses and visualization layers. Oversee BI tool testing (Power BI/Tableau/Looker) and analytics/KPI visualizations. Drive automated testing frameworks for API validations, data consistency, and ETL workflows using Python, Playwright, or Selenium. Mentor and manage junior QA engineers and SDETs, define performance metrics, and assess release readiness. Act as primary escalation for data anomalies and defects, collaborating with Data Engineers, Product Managers, and Business Analysts to clarify acceptance criteria and ensure shift-left data quality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a closely related technical field
- 8+ years in Quality Engineering or BI/Data testing with leadership/senior capacity
- Advanced proficiency in SQL for profiling, comparing, and validating large data volumes
- Hands-on experience testing BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) and data modeling concepts (star schemas, dimensional models)
- Familiarity with ETL processes, data pipelines, and workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt)
- Automation and scripting skills (Python desirable)
- Knowledge of agile/Scrum and CI/CD pipelines
