Bi-Lingual Safety Technician-3rd shift

Job Summary
Conduct routine plant safety inspections of production areas, yard operations, and mobile equipment to identify hazards and regulatory compliance gaps. Assist in investigating workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries by gathering facts, conducting interviews, and documenting findings for root cause determination. Support environmental compliance activities, maintain Safety Data Sheets, and ensure proper PPE usage through new employee orientation and toolbox talks. Participate in safety committee meetings and maintain safety files, inspection logs, and compliance documentation. This role is based at the Petersburg, VA Tindall plant with a 50% office and 50% plant/field split. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- 1-2 years of safety experience
- Manufacturing, construction, or industrial experience
- Basic knowledge of workplace safety principles
- Strong attention to detail
- Good observation skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to interact with employees at all levels
- Ability to recognize hazards
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, email)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to walk throughout the plant and yard frequently
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
- Ability to climb ladders and access elevated work areas
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves
