Job Summary
Lead daily wrestling practices, skills development, and character building while managing team rosters and equipment. Collaborate with assistant coaches and student managers to enforce league rules and monitor student-athlete academic progress. Evaluate player performance, maintain current scorebooks, and report injuries or behavioral concerns to the Athletic Director. Serve as a role model for good citizenship and ethical conduct, ensuring strict adherence to the CCS Student Code of Character and maintaining confidentiality of student records.
Required Qualifications
- Prior successful coaching experience, preferably at the high school and/or college level
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- A strong character with a team-oriented spirit, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students throughout our diverse community
- Considerable knowledge of and experience coaching that sport, including competitions, practices, and strength/conditioning
- Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize and prioritize work
- High school or collegiate playing experience
- Experience working with middle and high school-aged students
- A positive student-centered approach to coaching
- Demonstrated technical, theoretical, and applied knowledge pertinent to the assigned sport
- CPR and first aid certified or the ability to become certified
- Strong affinity for the mission of Upper Darby School District and an educational philosophy consistent with the school's mission and values
- Knowledge of basic computer operations
- Criminal Background Clearance (Act 34)
- Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)
- FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114)
- Criteria for employment in a PA Public School
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred
