BHMS - Extra Duty Position - Girls' Track Assistant Coach

Job Summary
Conduct daily girls' track practices, manage team rosters, and oversee skills development while enforcing the CCS Student Code of Character. Lead team management, collaborate with assistant coaches, and maintain current scorebooks and equipment. Evaluate player skills, monitor academic progress, and communicate regularly with student-athletes and parents. Report injuries to the athletic trainer, address behavioral or facility concerns immediately, and ensure compliance with PIAA and league rules. Maintain confidentiality of student records and uphold professional ethical standards. This seasonal Extra Duty position requires CPR certification and clearances, with duties extending to academic advisement and community engagement under the Upper Darby School District's mission.
Required Qualifications
- Prior successful coaching experience, preferably at the high school and/or college level
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- A strong character with a team-oriented spirit, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students throughout our diverse community
- Considerable knowledge of and experience coaching that sport, including competitions, practices, and strength/conditioning
- Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize and prioritize work
- High school or collegiate playing experience
- Experience working with middle and high school-aged students
- A positive student-centered approach to coaching
- Demonstrated technical, theoretical, and applied knowledge pertinent to the assigned sport
- CPR and first aid certified or the ability to become certified
- Strong affinity for the mission of Upper Darby School District and an educational philosophy consistent with the school's mission and values
- Knowledge of basic computer operations
- Clearance for Criminal Background Clearance (Act 34)
- Clearance for Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)
- Clearance for FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114)
- Meets criteria for employment in a PA Public School
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
